Challenge International Airlines was formed in 1985 by Bill F. Spohrer, president and chief executive of Challenge Air Transport, Inc. as a passenger airline. 

The airline would serve destinations in Central American from their base in Miami, Florida.  Service was scheduled to begin on December 15, 1985 with two leased 727-200 aircraft. 

The airline provided air service to: Tegucigalpa, Honduras; San Pedro Sula, Honduras; San Salvador, El Salvador; Belize City, Belize C.A.; Kingston, Jamaica; and Montego Bay, Jamaica 

The airline ran short on funding by the end of 1987 and declared bankruptcy.
